Let's start by painting a rooster from imagination

Don't worry - I'll even do the drawing for you if you like! Then we'll use a loose approach to splash in juicy colours to bring this little fellow to life.

Next we'll sketch a rooster based on a reference photo

Ok - I'll still do the drawing for you if you like, but I'm going to really encourage you to have a go at sketching this jaunty pose yourself before we splash in that fun colour.

Finally, we'll paint both a rooster and his cute little friend

I know that adding a person to your painting can feel intimidating, but I really want to show you that painting a person is actually no more difficult than painting a rooster... and just as fun!

Class supplies

A comprehensive supplies list of everything I used is included, but I always recommend using what you have where possible.

  • Watercolour paper 300gsm (140lb) cold pressed recommended

  • Watercolour paints

  • Large soft round brush suitable for watercolour

  • Pencil for sketching

  • What is included in this painting project?

    Three quick easy projects for beginners. Follow along with me, step by step in real time, from blank page to finished rooster. We will start by painting a simple rooster from the imagination and then each successive project offers an additional little challenge that gives you the opportunity to grow your skills and your confidence!

  • Is it suitable for beginners?

    Absolutely! All of the videos are fully narrated. I talk a lot (or so I'm told) which means there are lots of tips and guidance at every stage. You can follow me along every step of the way.

  • What if I can't draw?

    No problem. This project includes the (reusable) line drawing and step by step instructions to transfer that drawing onto your watercolour paper. Then it's just like paint by numbers! (Actually - it's even easier than that, I think) And this course is actually designed to build your drawing skills empowering you to tackle whatever painting subjects take your fancy.

  • When do I get access to the class material and for how long?

    The class is self paced. You get immediate (and forever) access to the whole class so you can binge/pace yourself and of course, rewatch at your convenience. You can also speed up or slow down the videos to your liking.
